Halfway ? Kuta beach, Bali

A hot sunny day and excellent 2-3 foot conditions at halfway beach greeted the surfers last Sunday. Running a unique teams format, surfers from the local surf stores were cheered on by their fellow staff members and a large crowd from the Bali surfing community as they competed for the Rp5,000,000 first prize, but more importantly, the right to claim themselves as Bali?s most core store.

A total of 8 teams consisting of 4 surfers each, participated in the contest; Bali Barrel, Jungle Surf, Star Surf, Da Hui, The Surf Shop, Youthnasia, Naruki, and the Quiksilver Board Riders Club.

Each team had 40 minutes to collect points during their heat with a maximum of 3 scoring waves per person. To give their team mates as much time as possible, surfers were sprinting back to the beach to tag in the next surfer.

In the true spirit of the day, the finals and presentation were followed by a BBQ and a couple of beers for the thirsty surfers and crowd alike with everyone enjoying being down on the beach and living the boardriding lifestyle.

In the lead up to the event, Quiksilver have held a number of BBQ?s and movie nights at the back of their offices in Kuta for the local store staff and wider surfing community.

2: Da Hui: Karwija, Ketut Widana, Lisa, Moh Yunus
3: Youthnasia: Pepen Henrik, Mickey Sudena, Agus Wijaya, Agus Purnawan
4: Jungle Surf: Made ?Bol? Adi Putra, Komang Sujaya, Wayan Adnyana, Made Sudana
